How to Manage Merged Bookings for Customer with a User Profile

Modified on Sat, 6 Jul at 4:06 PM

Jezzam includes a feature that allows you to manage how merged bookings are displayed in a customer's User Profile.

This functionality provides flexibility in allowing you to maintain your customer records while ensuring a smooth and transparent user experience for your customers.

Overview

When customer records are merged, the bookings from the secondary customer are transferred to the primary customer, and the secondary customer profile is deleted.

For customers with a Jezzam User Profile, this could lead to confusion as they might see unexpected bookings when they log in to there user profile.

To address this, Jezzam provides an option to control the visibility of these merged bookings.

Tip: See How to Merge Customers in Jezzam for more details on merging customers

Managing the Visibility of Merged Bookings for Customer with a User Profile

The option to manage merged bookings visibility is located in the "Details" tab of each customer's record within the "Customers" section of your Jezzam Admin Panel. Here, you will find a checkbox labeled "Show merged bookings in User Profile."

How to change Merged Booking Visibility:

  1. Log in to your Admin Panel
  2. Navigate to the "Customers" section
  3. Select the Customer you wish to manage.
  4. Go to the "Details" tab.
  5. Locate the checkbox labeled "Show merged bookings in User Profile."
  6. Check or uncheck the box according to your preference.
  7. Click "Save"

Tip1: By default, merged bookings are not visible to customers in their User Profile. Activating the option as detailed above will allow the customer to see and manage merged bookings in their User Profile.

Note1: Jezzam logs when the merged booking visibility setting was last change and which administrator actioned the changed.

Note2: The 'Show merged bookings in User Profile' option is only available when a customer has a User Profile and their bookings include merged bookings.

Implications of Activating the Feature

Activating the Checkbox:

  • When you activate this checkbox, the customer will be able to see and manage all bookings in their User Profile, including those that have been merged from another customer.
  • This is beneficial in scenarios where both you and the customer are aware of the merge and expect to see all associated bookings.
  • It ensures transparency and helps in maintaining accurate records visible to the customer.

Deactivating the Checkbox:

  • If you do not activate the checkbox, the customer will only see their original bookings and will not be aware of any bookings transferred from another profile when you have carried out a customer merge in your Admin Panel.
  • This prevents confusion or surprise for customers who might not be aware of the merge.
  • It is useful when you want to keep the customer’s booking view unchanged in their User Profile despite merges you have done for record management purposes.

Scenarios

Scenario 1: Transparent Record Keeping

A customer has merged profiles and is aware of this action. By activating the checkbox, the customer can view all their bookings, including the merged ones, ensuring full transparency and preventing any potential confusion.

Scenario 2: Preventing Customer Confusion

A customer is unaware of the merge process. By keeping the checkbox deactivated, the customer will only see their original bookings, thus maintaining a consistent and familiar view of their bookings and avoiding any surprises.

Considerations

  • User Profiles: This feature only applies to customers who have a Jezzam User Profile, allowing them to log in and view their bookings. Customers who book as guests and do not have a User Profile will not be affected by merged bookings as they are unable to log in and see their own bookings.

  • Merged Bookings Detection: The option to manage merged bookings visibility will only be shown in the Customers section of your Admin Panel if the customer has a User Profile and has bookings that are the result of a merge. This ensures that the feature is relevant and only appears when necessary.

Conclusion

This feature is designed to provide you with the flexibility to manage customer records effectively while ensuring a seamless experience for your customers. By controlling the visibility of merged bookings, you can tailor the customer experience to match their expectations and avoid any potential confusion.
