Email verification when booking online

Modified on Mon, 2 Nov at 9:10 PM

Email verification is an optional setting that asks customers to confirm their email address before continuing with an online booking.

When verification is required, Jezzam sends a one-time code to the email address being used for the booking. The customer enters the code to continue.

This helps reduce the chance of bookings being made with an incorrect email address. This can be useful because booking confirmations, order emails, payment requests and other important booking information are sent by email.

Note: Email verification helps ensure that customers provide a valid email address, but it does add an extra step to the booking process. It is optional, so you can decide whether the additional verification is appropriate for your account.

When email verification is used

Email verification is only used if you have enabled it for your account.

When enabled, a customer may be asked to verify their email address if:

  • They are making a booking as a guest
  • They are logged in but their User Profile email address has not yet been verified

For guest bookings, Jezzam asks for verification the first time the customer needs to confirm their email address during the current booking session.

Once the email address has been verified for that session, the customer should not need to verify it again for every booking they add to the basket.

How to turn email verification on or off

To turn email verification on or off:

  1. Go to Settings in the admin panel.
  2. Open General Settings.
  3. Open the 'Booking Rules' tab.
  4. Find 'Email verification required for booking'.
  5. Set the option to 'Yes' or 'No'.
  6. Save your changes.

If this setting is set to 'Yes', customers may need to enter a verification code before the booking can continue.

If this setting is set to 'No', Jezzam does not ask customers to verify their email address during online booking.

What customers see during booking

If verification is required, Jezzam shows a 'Verification required' popup during the booking process.

The popup tells the customer that they need to confirm their email address to continue with the booking.

Jezzam sends a verification code to the email address being used for the booking. The customer enters the code and selects 'Verify code'.

If the code is accepted, the booking can continue.

What the verification email contains

The verification email contains a code that the customer can use to continue with the booking.

The code is valid for a limited time and can only be used once.

If the customer requests a new code, only the most recent code will work.

If the customer does not receive the code

If the customer does not receive the code, they should:

  • Check that the email address entered is correct
  • Check their junk or spam folder
  • Use the option to send a new code

If the customer still cannot receive the code, they may need to contact the business they are trying to book with.

What happens after verification

After the customer verifies their email address, they can continue with the booking process.

If they are using the basket, they can continue adding bookings or proceed to checkout, depending on how the account is configured.

If they are logged in with a User Profile, verifying the email address helps confirm the email address associated with that profile.
