The maximum files size of images is restricted to 150Kb.
This is to ensure that people receiving your emails (for example on mobile phones) do not have to wait a long time for the image to download.
It also prevents them incurring possible data charges when downloading large images.
Recommended best practice for email images suggests a maximum file size of 100Kb.
