Jezzam allows anyone with a Jezzam User Profile to optionally activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) also know as Multi-factor Authentication (MFA).

What is two-factor authentication?

Security professionals recommend using multiple factors for authentication where possible. With two-factor authentication those factors are usually: “something you know”, like your password, and “something you have”, like getting a text message or using an authenticator app on your phone to generate a secret code (also known as the verification code).

Most of us are familiar with this process.  It's where you login and then are asked to enter a verification code to complete the log in process.  The verification code is often sent by text message or email or generated by an authenticator app.

How to setup two-factor authentication in Jezzam

  1. First login in to your Jezzam User Profile in the usual way
  2. Go to the "Security & Password" tab
  3. Set "Two-factor authentication" to "on"

You will now need to follow 3 simple steps:

  1. Download and install an authenticator app of your choice

Depending on the app, this can be installed on your computer, tablet or phone

  2. Setup an account for your Jezzam login in the authenticator app

Start your authenticator app and create a new account in the app.  If your app is on a mobile device it will normally prompt you to scan a QR code using the devices camera.  This is the simplest way to setup the account in your authenticator app.  Jezzam presents you with a QR code which you can scan with your camera.  You can also setup the account manually using the information on the "Security & Password" tab.

  3. Verify your authentication app is setup correctly

Use the new account you have just setup in your authenticator app to generate a 6-digit verification code. Enter this in the space provide and then click "Complete two-factor setup".

You Jezzam user profile is now setup to use two-factor authentication and you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit verification code each time you log in.

The 6-digit code is generated uniquely each time you login as is time based.  In other words, it will only be valid for a short period after it has been generated.

How do I login using two-factor authentication?

When you login with two-factor authentication activated, you'll need to enter your email address and password as usual. You'll then be asked to enter the verification code from your authenticator app. And that's it! Nice and simple.

How do I switch off two-factor authentication on my Jezzam User Profile?

  1. Log in to your Jezzam User Profile (you will need to use two-factor authentication for this)
  2. Go to the "Security & Password" tab
  3. Set "Two-factor authentication" to "off"
  4. You will be prompted to confirm this action.  Click "Yes" to continue
  5. Enter your normal password and click "Remove"

Two-factor authentication will now be deactivated on your Jezzam User Profile

What should I do I don't have my two-factor authentication verification code?

There may be occasions where you no longer have access to the authenticator app to generate your verification code.  For example, if you no longer have the mobile phone the authenticator app was installed on.

In these cases:

  1. Begin the login process and normal and enter your email and normal password
  2. On the "Two-factor authentication" screen, click the "Don't have your verification code?" link

This will take you to the "No authentication code?" feature.

  3. Click the "Send me instructions" link

This will send instructions on how to proceed to the email address registered with your Jezzam User Profile.
